Fifteen Bells: [ACTION/WRITTEN]

[Archie woke up yesterday. How is this new? Well, after getting some fairly critical stab wounds from Grell, he was put on a ventilator and kept under sedation for a few days. The ventilator was exchanged for a less impressive-looking concentrator yesterday and he was taken off sedation. He spent yesterday sleeping anyway, since anesthesia doesn't generally leave you bright-eyed immediately afterward.

This morning, he is talking and eating Jell-o, which is a new experience. The most important bit comes written on the journal network in wobbly handwriting courtesy of the heart monitor clipped on his finger.]

I have been informed that I may have visitors. I'd like to know everyone is all right.

[Anyone who comes in will find him looking predictably weak and pale but lucid and in good spirits, or possibly catnapping after a dose of painkillers.

[She smiles at that laugh. Laughter's the best medicine and has been in short supply for the past week.]

He didn't need to do. I've been asleep for most of the week.

So have I. They just let me wake up yesterday, actually. I think one or two of my friends are in poorer health than me.

I've only seen one of my teammates since I got here. So I'm hoping that the other three are okay as well...

[She doesn't mention that one of her housemates had gone and gotten himself killed again but that's a matter to be dealt with when she see's said person next. Most likely with a fist to the face of the poor victim.]

Well then, Selphie, you and I shall petition the town of Luceti to visit its patients in the clinic more often. Whenever I'm awake, I'm bored to tears.

Why good sir, I do think we can manage that quite nicely! Something to do would be nice though. I'm bored out of my brain.

We could play noughts and crosses, but I'm afraid it's a bit difficult to write at the moment. We might tell each other stories.

Naughts and crosses? As for stories... I don't think I've got any good ones.

None at all? [He racks his opiate-addled brain for something that isn't depressing.] Do you know Katherine and Petruchio?

We didn't really have a lot of time to read back home... but I've never heard of that one before.

All right, well.

[He launches into what is essentially the story of The Taming of the Shrew, shortened to a manageable length. He's a decent enough storyteller--no stand-up comedian, but he can manage to capture and hold most peoples' interest, even if they're not going to be riveted.]

[Selphie listens quietly and giggles during the more amusing parts as she starts to nod off during the story.]

And they all lived happily ever after...?

Of course they did. [Telling the story took a lot out of him, and he blinks sleepily.] I should tell you more, perhaps after you sleep for a little. I imagine we'll both be here for some time yet.

Sounds like you need a nap too.

Just a little one. [Because he is manly and tough and doesn't need more sleep than that.] Good night, Selphie.
