Fifteen Bells: [ACTION/WRITTEN]

[Archie woke up yesterday. How is this new? Well, after getting some fairly critical stab wounds from Grell, he was put on a ventilator and kept under sedation for a few days. The ventilator was exchanged for a less impressive-looking concentrator yesterday and he was taken off sedation. He spent yesterday sleeping anyway, since anesthesia doesn't generally leave you bright-eyed immediately afterward.

This morning, he is talking and eating Jell-o, which is a new experience. The most important bit comes written on the journal network in wobbly handwriting courtesy of the heart monitor clipped on his finger.]

I have been informed that I may have visitors. I'd like to know everyone is all right.

[Anyone who comes in will find him looking predictably weak and pale but lucid and in good spirits, or possibly catnapping after a dose of painkillers.

OOC: Purely for the sake of mercy, Archie is unaffected by the event.]

[Well clinic buddy, this is something that Selphie can relate to.]

You stuck in bed too?

[Actually, he's going to switch to voice. Too hard to do a written conversation.]

With all sorts of things attached to me, yes.

[He's exaggerating: there's an IV and a heart monitor. And the oxygen.]

[Oh hey there! Selphie likes voice right now. It means she lay down and talk at the journal. Somebody's about due for another nap.]

The IV is the worst.

[Oh, thank God! Someone who knows what this stuff is!]

Which one is the IV?

[If it weren't for the fact that she's still on IV antibiotics, Selphie would've pulled it out a long time ago.]

The small clear tube stuck in your arm.

[Giles was just told that you're coming off sedation today, Kennedy. But he knows damn well how uncooperative hospital equipment can be.

So, he replies by voice.]

We're all fine, Kennedy. No one else was attacked.

Oh yes. The one that delivers morphine directly into my blood. I've become rather fond of that one.

[Also of the little button he presses to make the morphine happen.]

Good. [Vaguely he remembers Horatio might have said something like this at one point. Or at several points. His memory yesterday was not great.]

Did your friend make it back yet?

Yes, he did. A few days ago, actually. He's doing well - well enough that we still haven't actually figured out what his death penalty is.

Jack didn't have one. Perhaps Helios doesn't, either.

I just get antibiotics from mine.

[He doesn't know what those are, but he'll pretend he does.]

What brings a young lady to this fine establishment, if it isn't too bold for me to ask?

Malaria brought -- and keeps -- this young lady -- also known as Selphie -- to this fine establishment and has kept her here since the end of the last draft and I'd really, really like to go home and sleep in my own bed because if anybody else tries to come and poke me with another needle, I'm getting ready to tell them where they can shove it.

[That makes him laugh.] I take you as one of the few unfortunates Dr. McCoy did not manage to accost with his...his little device that prevents the ague, evidently.

[She smiles at that laugh. Laughter's the best medicine and has been in short supply for the past week.]

He didn't need to do. I've been asleep for most of the week.

[Jack did get a death penalty, of course. He's just been very good at hiding it from Archie.]

I'm all right. They're taking very good care of me here. It's just a bit quiet, is all.

So have I. They just let me wake up yesterday, actually. I think one or two of my friends are in poorer health than me.

[As did Helios. But the both of them are too wrapped up in their respective experiment effects to acknowledge it.]

I rather think clinics are supposed to be a bit quiet.

How much longer do you have to stay, then?

I've only seen one of my teammates since I got here. So I'm hoping that the other three are okay as well...

[She doesn't mention that one of her housemates had gone and gotten himself killed again but that's a matter to be dealt with when she see's said person next. Most likely with a fist to the face of the poor victim.]

I don't know. Very possibly the rest of my life.

[Joke. Bad joke.]

Let me know if you'd like some help moving stuff over from your apartment, then.

Buffy tells me that McCoy isn't quite himself, at the moment, unfortunately.

Well then, Selphie, you and I shall petition the town of Luceti to visit its patients in the clinic more often. Whenever I'm awake, I'm bored to tears.

I've not seen him. I've been sleeping most of the day. Wonderful stuff, morphine. Not to mention it's the only thing to do.

Why good sir, I do think we can manage that quite nicely! Something to do would be nice though. I'm bored out of my brain.
