Seven Bells: [ACTION/WRITTEN] Hat Day.

[Citizens of Luceti may see Archie Kennedy wandering around with a new hat today. It looks a little like something a magician would pull a rabbit out of, but he seems to be enjoying it. He'll be around town today--the library and grocery store during the day, and Good Spirits in the evening. In the afternoon, he'll sit at the fountain to pen a few words.]

I believe morale might improve if we had some sort of goodbye ceremony for those who were returned home. Not a funeral, mind you, just an occasion to remember them, celebrate their return, and hope to join them soon. Perhaps once a month or so, for everyone who left during the month. It's the little things that help one cope, sometimes.

Also, who left a note under my door? I'm afraid I can't read it, or indeed tell if it was even meant for me. I live in Building One, in the first flat on the first floor.

[the warmer weather means she's spending more time outside, enjoying the sun, so she's out and about during the afternoon in plenty of time to see this.

She can't help but laugh when she catches sight of him, one hand coming up to cover her smile briefly]

[He pauses, struck blind, lips curled in a "Yeah, you probably think that's funny" sort of smile, until he leisurely uses the edge of a book to push the brim back up.]

[dropping down to sit next to him] Where did you even find that?

[a laugh] I love it. Very debonair.

[she's not kidding. It's the kind of fun discovery that makes shops like these wonderful.

[Now he's beaming.] Thank you, Jilly! [He gestures down the road.] Shall we walk?

[He begins at a leisurely pace toward the bakery.] I don't think I told you about Dawn. [Beaming again. He's in such a good mood today.]

[matching pace (even though she has to walk a little quicker to keep up with his longer strides), she'll shake her head.] Just that she was... with you. [in the draft]

[a bit of a smile quirks at the edges of her lips, though] I picked up hints that there might be something more to it, though. [like an adorable poem you failed to filter] Spill.

It's...it's going very slowly, but it feels right. She's intelligent and kind and beautiful and I'm certain she'll come to her senses very soon about me.

[About him being an emotional mess at times, like last week?] Well. I wasn't being entirely serious, but I meant that she'd eventually see me for what I am.

..A scoundrel. [With a twinkle in his eye. He's joking with those words.]

[He smiles and looks flattered at first, then moves his lips as if he's about to say something. After a second, he looks away, smile weakening. The walk continues in silence.]

There was a definite mood shift in the wrong direction. Where'd your thoughts go, Mr. Kennedy?

[...She might have to just get used to that, yeah.] Nowhere in particular, Miss Coppercorn. Although if you must know, I've never courted anyone properly and I'm not entirely certain I'm doing it right.

I don't know. Considering the state I was in after the battle, if I were her, I'd be having second thoughts.
