Seven Bells: [ACTION/WRITTEN] Hat Day.

[Citizens of Luceti may see Archie Kennedy wandering around with a new hat today. It looks a little like something a magician would pull a rabbit out of, but he seems to be enjoying it. He'll be around town today--the library and grocery store during the day, and Good Spirits in the evening. In the afternoon, he'll sit at the fountain to pen a few words.]

I believe morale might improve if we had some sort of goodbye ceremony for those who were returned home. Not a funeral, mind you, just an occasion to remember them, celebrate their return, and hope to join them soon. Perhaps once a month or so, for everyone who left during the month. It's the little things that help one cope, sometimes.

Also, who left a note under my door? I'm afraid I can't read it, or indeed tell if it was even meant for me. I live in Building One, in the first flat on the first floor.

Actually, I met him first. I take it you've been here before, and I'm glad to hear you remember it.

I have been, yes. The Malnosso sent me home back in the middle of last December.

Everyone seems to be glad that I remember my previous stay.

Honestly, so am I.

Everyone should be glad of it. I'd like to remember if I ever had to leave.

It's easier, certainly. Everyone who suddenly starts talking at you has a name and some measure of trustworthiness.

Have you been here before and not remembered?

Not that Buffy's told me. And she did tell Willow, that Willow was here before and hadn't remembered.

I see. No one seems to recognize me, so I've been under the assumption that this is my first time here.

Or anyone who knew you the last time you were here has been sent home.

But seeing how closely certain villagers keep track, and how long some of them have been here, that isn't terribly likely.

How long have you known Dawn and Buffy?

[And he does know how iffy time gets with Dawn, but doesn't feel like that would be an appropriate thing to point out.]

A little over nine years.

That's a long time to know someone in a war.

Yes, well, sometimes Sunnydale was a very slow war.

Not so different from the one I fought in, then. Sometimes I think it was more a continuation of a war than a new one.

Which war was this, then?

I think you called them the French Revolutionary Wars by your time.

Was it Buffy who informed you of that, then?

[And, after a slightly longer pause:] You must know a great deal about boats.

Actually, I did some reading when I first came to Luceti. I arrived to find my present had become history, and wanted be more or less informed.

And seeing as I've been on a ship since I was eleven, yes. I do.

A friend of mine and I were planning on going to explore the ocean proper. But we don't know much about sailing. Or boats in general. Which is unfortunate, because we find ourselves needing to build one.

I could help. I can't say I've ever built a boat, but I know what everything is and where it goes. Who's your friend?

Very intelligent girl. Black hair, brown eyes, Japanese descent. Maybe about Buffy's age.

It seems everyone I've met here is from the Japans if they're not from America.
