Twenty-one Bells: [ACTION/VOICE]

[Archie has barely been around town lately, but he does appear in town this afternoon, dashing about to various shops and stores and picking up various one-use items and lots and lots of groceries. He seems to have one thing on his mind.

Later, he'll sit at the fountain and send out the voice message:]

This is Mr. Kennedy. If anyone is in need of me, I shall be at the beach house for most of the week. You can reach me there or on the journals.

Moreover, Mr. Hornblower and I are wondering if anyone would be interested in helping to build a ship. A sloop-of-war, to be specific, with room and ports enough for eighteen or twenty-two guns. I cannot claim we have a practical use for itm besides exploration, but it would be something to do. We have the plans drawn up, and all we need is enough hands to make it possible. We would be grateful for any help at all.

[After this, he'll be walking back to the beach house, where he's been babysitting Jack Sparrow since yesterday.]

"You don't think that's a bit extravagant?"

"Not if you want to properly impersonate the ghosts of the army of the Incan Cataclysm, boyo. We painted our faces and wore lots of featherish things and...lots of nudity, actually, now I think about it proper-like.

And we maden't a sound, and they saw us with our coconuts out willy-nilly and they fled straight away."

"You doubt me, sir? It worked a charm! It worked a blessing! We ate like kings for....erm, at least a solid fortnight!"

He was very likely inventing this entire story, really, but Kennedy didn't need to know that.

Kennedy always took Jack's stories with a grain of salt, but that wasn't the point. They were good stories, true or no.

"Still, I would hardly call that 'sacking Nassau'. Sounds to me like you performed a clever theft, is all."

"Oi! Sacked it, savvy? We sacked it good and proper. There were...other things stolen aside from that silver. I got a very fine waistcoat out of the deal."

"You got a waistcoat." So impressed, Jack.

"Aye! A very fine one!"

Point? COUNTERPOINT.

"How fine?"

[all7seas]

"You'll recall the cloth you wove with your clever fairy fingers?"

"It still isn't what I'd call sacking."

[all7seas]

"Very well, Kennedy---DO enlighten me. How does the Navy do THEIR sacking?"

"We force the survivors to join our crew."

[all7seas]

"Bugger.



Never COULD abide your navy, lad. Then again, there'd be so many survivors left over from one of my sackings that I'd never fit 'em all on the crew."

Because Jack Sparrow's sackings were eminently survivable.

"There are supposed to be plenty of survivors. It means the ship is intact. Anyone we can't use becomes a prisoner of war. We don't even have to battle a ship in order to raid her for crew, even if she's an English merchantman or Indiaman. But I wouldn't worry--we serve the king, and that makes it civilized."

Civilized? You just get a look, Kennedy. And a two-word comment:

"Bloody pirates."
