Three Bells: [WRITTEN] - New Horizons in Lit Appreciation

They have everything Shakespeare ever wrote in the library. Everything! It's a fountain of gold. I could spend days here. I'd sleep here if they'd let me. I don't think I've ever been happier. And there's no theatre group here? None? Do people here not realize what they have? What kind of a world is this?

In case anyone asks, I'll be in the library for the rest of my life.

[Or really just the rest of the day. At some point he'll have to come up for air and grab something to eat at the 7th Heaven, where he'll be buried in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. It'll be dark before he goes home, carrying only a single book.]

[When McCoy arrives, Archie is sitting at the bar with a glass of Scotch. Or not-Scotch, as he thinks of it. But, like Mr. Scott says, you drink it anyway, even if it is a cheap imitation.]

[ Mr. Scott is an idiot; don't listen to him, Archie. but true to his word, McCoy arrives ten minutes or so later, out of uniform and looking far too agitated as he spots the younger man and slides into a seat next to him. ]

Got a date for that duel of yours?

I'm supposed to contact Jack when I'm ready. [He rubs his eyes like he's got another headache.] I didn't mean to complicate things with him.

[He's talking about McCoy's relationship with Jack, which he's feeling pretty messed up about. He's fairly sure he made the man more dangerous.]

Well.. that's decent of him, I suppose.

No, it's not. The longer I wait, the more of a coward I look like.

And leaping headfirst into things is liable to get you injured. Trust me on this, I've seen it before.

[He heaves a sigh.] You should've heard him, Doctor. He sounded like he wanted to murder me. I think I'm liable to get injured either way.

[ reaching for a glass of romulan ale because if he's going to get blitzed, he might as well do it well. ]

This is some trouble you've got yourself in. And to think, you've hardly been here for a month.

I haven't even been here a month. I think I must have... [He sees the Romulan ale and his eyes widen.] That's very bad for you, Doctor.

Medicinal purposes only, my ass. [ gets them every time as he pours the blue liquid into a glass from the bottle. ] Things'll settle down sooner or later. He'll get bored and head out to the ocean.

[He keeps watching as he pours the beverage.]

I certainly hope he does so before killing me. You know, that innocent-looking drink made me propose to a girl.

He's not going to kill you; I'll step in before both of you try and slice each other up. And I don't know whose sense of humour it was up there to supply this drink, but I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

[ he pauses and raises an eyebrow. ] A girl, huh? Did she say yes?

You may want to stay out of the way, actually, Sharp blades, you know.

...Come to think of it, I believe I only threatened to propose marriage. I think her only promise was that her sister wouldn't kill me if I did.

[ he takes a sip of romulan ale and his face scrunches up as the drink burns down the back of his throat. ] No, really? Here I was thinking you'd use fish instead.

[ a short laugh as he considers that. ] Rack those death threats up, kid.
